We are a small shop of three - 2 brothers and one employee. Starting out in 1976 as three brothers who were brought up messing about with boats, coming across a mold for making a 9' dinghy, the adventure began. Designing and building the boat, which soon included a sailing model, was a labor of love. With its laminated mahogany rails, 4 coats of spar varnish, hand laid hulls, was loved by many, but after 5 years showed us our strength was not in selling, but building.
We followed our market calling, and started building wind deflectors for the trucking industry in 1984. At that point our third brother decided to follow his love of wood working and the sea, and started the Monroe Boat Shop, specializing in building small wood boats, and boat repair.
